Nathan R. Long started his legal career as a staff attorney to Chief US Magistrate Judge Larry M. Boyle for the District of Idaho. From there, he was part of the litigation group of a large, nationally recognized law firm, represented a wide array of clients, and handled complex business litigation of all varieties.
He has also served as general counsel for a large multi-national, facility service corporation with several affiliated companies. In that capacity, Nate assisted with matters of all types including general corporate governance, contract disputes, intellectual property, workers’ compensation disputes, product liability, and general liability disputes, and all varieties of employment law claims. Nate also managed the company’s Human Resources Department in addition to managing the Risk Management Department.
Nate joined Cedar Band Corporation in 2021 as its first General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer. In that role, he provides legal support to CBC as well as each of its subsidiary companies on a wide variety of legal, regulatory, and corporate governance matters. He is also part of CBC’s executive management team and provides counsel on all aspects of CBC’s operations.
Nate’s mentor in the law, Judge Boyle, always told him that “good lawyers solve problems.” He enjoys doing that and has become a licensed mediator and, with his broad range of experience, provides insight and perspective to litigating parties and help them reach agreement to solve their problems.
Nate loves to spend time with his family and has made many regional and cross-country RV trips with his wife, children, and family dog. He enjoys movie night at home and early-morning golf outings. He is active in his local community and is an adjunct professor at Idaho State University.
